One of the top ten Portuguese films of all time will be screened in Bangkok on Saturday, 4:00 pm, at the River City Bangkok. The award-winning film ‘Blood of My Blood” from Portugal will serve as the opening salvo of a series of films to be screened by RCB Film Club in June.
“Blood of My Blood” (SANGUE DO MEU SANGUE) has been screened at the top festivals of the world and won nearly 19 prestigious awards. It was also nominated for Oscar award in 2011 and is considered by many to be one of the top 10 Portuguese films of all time.
The movie tells of a tough and moving drama of a family in crisis, led by a strong mother who fights every problem with strength and fortitude (well-known Portuguese actress Rita Blanco won many awards for her masterful performance). Her son sells drugs, her daughter is having an affair with a married man, her sister longs to be loved, and she herself hides a dark secret. The film portrays a multiple range of relationships, with fluctuating moments of pain, passion, tenderness, violence, that are all evened out at the end.
The opening film is supported by the Embassy of Portugal and the Camões Portuguese Cultural Centre. Ambassador His Excellency Francisco Vaz Patto will introduce the movie.
Screening will be held at Room 232 (Second Floor) of River City Bangkok. Registration is free with loads of free food and will be graced with the presence of esteemed diplomats, professional film critics and movie lovers.
There will also be an opening reception after the screening of the film, kind courtesy of the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel, GLOBO Internacional.

How to go to the venue:
River City Bangkok (RCB) is located near Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel, and is accessible from Hualampong MRT and Saphan Thaksin BTS.
There is a free RCB shuttle-boat from Saphan Thaksin pier, at 3-00 pm.
The free Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel shuttle-boat can also be taken.
There are regular boat-services from Saphan Thaksin Pier to Siphaya Pier, which is closest to RCB.
