The search and retrieval operation at the State Audit Office (SAO) building is nearing the end, eight more victims are still being located under the rubble.
In a The Nation article, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, which oversees the operations, presented some updates. Still on site are members of the Department of Special Investigation, the Central Police Forensic Science Division and the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning. Also gathering evidence are structural engineering experts from Kasetsart University.
In the update, the search and demolition efforts continue, particularly between the Zone D and adjacent car park, where it is believed more victims may still be trapped. As of 6pm on May 3, 86 are already confirmed dead, with 9 individuals injured and 8 still missing.
Officials investigating members collected samples of intact concrete cores and reinforcing steel bars from the lift shaft wall. Samples will be sent to a laboratory for testing to determine their durability. These slabs should surpass 500 kilograms of weight in order to be up to standard.
