It is possible that catching Covid-19 can make your penis shrink. This rare symptom has been linked to long Covid-19 exposure, at least one study says.
A man in his 30s narrated, through a podcast program How To Do It, that his genitalia shrank to about 1.5 inches after he got Covid-19.
“In July of last year, I contracted Covid and was very sick. When I got out of the hospital, I had some erectile dysfunction issues. My penis has shrunk. Now I’ve lost about an inch-and-a-half and become decidedly less than average.”
The man further complained that the effect could possibly be a lifetime despite getting better with the help of medication.
“Those gradually got better with some medical attention, but I seem to be left with a lasting problem.”
The man also hinted that the situation probably has something to do with the deteriorating muscles of the organ.
“It’s apparently due to vascular damage, and my doctors seem to think it’s likely permanent. It shouldn’t really matter, but it has had a profound impact on my self-confidence in my abilities in bed.”
Urologist Ashley Winter, speaking on the same podcast, confirmed that the case can be a possibility.
“It is true that having erectile dysfunction leads to shortening. You have this period of time where the penis is not stretching itself out, where it’s not, you know, getting all this full blood into it, and that can lead to scarring and shortening of the penis.”
“And that’s probably what you know your caller is referring to now.”
Dr. Winter also added that proper blood flow to the penis can be disrupted by the virus, which in turn can cause erectile dysfunction.
The doctor also mentioned a urologist’s study that found two men who had completely recovered from Covid still had traces of it in their penises. Both men decided for penis implant surgeries months after they had been infected.
A study from University College London found that the symptom is rare among 200 who got the Covid virus.
