December 5 is a national holiday in Thailand. All government offices including schools will be closed on Thursday next week.
His Majesty the Late King’s birthday falls on 5 December. Citizens get a holiday to pay respects to and honour the late King.
King Bhumibhol was the father of the current monarch King Rama X.
The Philippine Embassy will also be closed on December 5.
Meanwhile, on the same date the Association of Filipinos in Thailand is organizing a “Paskong Pinoy” celebration.
