The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has started imposing the 30-day ban to NO-SHOW online passport applicants, ABS-CBN News reported on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.
According to Asec. and DFA Spokesperson Charles Jose, this new regulation will help in expediting the release of other passports. He added that 47% or 800 applicants do not show up on their scheduled application appointment which is set online.
“Under ng bago naming measure, may bago po kaming ilalagay na reservation system na puwedeng i-keep touch ‘yung mga hindi dumadating sa kanilang appointment,” (Under our new measure we will put up a reservation system that will keep touch to those who did not show up on their schedule set online), explained Asec. Jose.
“Malilibre ang maraming slots. Mapapaaga na ‘yung makukuha nilang appointment online dahil nga po 800 ang mapi-free-up po natin. In addition, nagdagdag kami ng 50 slots everyday starting today,” (More slots will be available. People can get earlier appointment online since there will be 800 slots that will be made available and we have added 50 more slots everyday starting today), added Jose referring to the department’s solution on having long queues.
