To address the issues concerning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in Thailand, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Belo, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac will hold dialogues with the Filipino Community members at the 3rd Filipino Community Leaders’ Congress on October 19-20, 2017 in Bangkok.
Belo and Cacdac have already confirmed their attendance at the congress. A representative from Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) will also talk at the congress. Newly arrived and unregistered OFWs can apply to become OWWA members. Payments will be made at the venue.
This was relayed by Ms Nelly Palpallatoc, president of OFW QuickServANTS Thailand chapter who coordinated with DOLE and OWWA through 8trimedia’s Kakampi Bernard Tan and Aksyon Lady Kaye Dacer.
Meanwhile, being members of OWWA proves to be beneficial as a lot of Filipinos who got sick or died were given assistance by OWWA, an attached agency of DOLE.
