The special extension of stay under Criteria 2.28 of the Order of the Immigration Bureau No. 327/2557 dated 30 June 2014, which requires an Embassy request, and may only be given because of the extraordinary Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Thai immigration officers make the final decision on visa or extension of stay applications. It is up to the visa applicant to prove why she or he deserves a visa or extension of stay like we all do when we apply for visas at foreign embassies.
The Embassy cannot appeal a Thai immigration officer’s decision and will not issue another letter.
