Bangkok — Thailand is planning to grant multiple-entry visa to all visitors from any country in a bid to boost tourism and improve the Kingdom’s economy.
The proposal was approved by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and is expected to be implemented within 60 days, according to Tourism Minister Kobharn Wattanavrangkul.
As of now, citizens of 30-40 countries can do a single entry to the Kingdom with visa upon arrival without any charge. But some other nationals are required to pay about 1,000 baht to get a single-entry 30-day visa.
Kobkarn said that in the new plan the holders of the new visa will be allowed to come into the country more than once within six months period for 5,000 baht.
Tourism industry in Thailand has a consistent positive progress in recent years despite the political dramas and natural calamities that occurred. It is estimated that every after ten days a millionth visitor arrives in any of Thailand’s international airport.
