New passport releases will be delayed — DFA

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Monday, 29 June 2015, that the release of new passports would take a little longer because of operational and technical adjustments.

In an advisory, the DFA apologized for the delays already being experienced by the public both in the Philippines and abroad. The department, however, assured the public of improved production capacity by mid-August this year. By then, passport delivery schedules will also normalize.

The DFA also thanked the public for its understanding and cooperation during the adjustment period.

Below is the advisory posted on DFA website.

29 June 2015

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sincerely apologizes for the current passport delays being experienced by the public, both here and abroad.

These delays have been caused by operational and technical adjustments required to meet increased passport demands.

The improved production capacity is expected to be achieved by mid-August of this year, by which time delivery schedules will normalize.

The DFA thanks the public for its understanding and cooperation during this adjustment period.
