Philippine flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is now a 4-star airline. This upgrade rating is given by London-based Skytrax after a tedious auditing of its in-flight and on-ground services.
This announcement was done by PAL themselves last Thursday, February 8. The up ranking was also due to the “major enhancement to its end-to-end passenger experience”, as Rappler reported.
According to PAL Chairman and CEO Lucio Tan, this is a big win for the Philippines, and he continued: “We are elated by this recognition which is a victory for the more than 7,000 members of the Philippine Airlines family. Our achievements is the country’s achievements and we share this with all Filipinos around the globe.”
PAL now joins 40 other airlines in the said 4-star rating and is the first Philippine airline to receive such distinction from Skytrax. According to Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted, “this recognizes the great improvements that [PAL] has introduced over the last 2 years, both in terms of product change and development and enhancement of the front-line staff service…. New and retrofitted aircraft have played an important part in the quality improvement process, and this looks set to develop further when PAL introduces the A350 into their fleet.”
Last June 2017, PAL ranked sixth on the World’s Most Improved Airlines, and was ranked by Skytrax 67th, out of 320 airlines, advancing 16 places more compared in 2016.
