PAL ranks 9th in world’s highest airline COVID-19 safety protocols

Philippines Airlines (PAL) has been given a 4.2 / 5 safety travel score criteria in terms of having the world’s highest standards for Covid-19 safety protocols, according to a report from UK-based Travel Weekly.

This put the airline at rank #9 out of the top 10 airlines in the world with the highest Covid-19 safety standard protocols.

According to Virendra Jain, co-founder and chief executive of Safe Travel, “the fundamental premise of Safe Travel Score is to benchmark travel brands’ initiatives to reduce traveller anxiety.”

“Our independent rating centered on traveller health and safety measures establishes a baseline for travel brands, while equally offering travellers a glimpse into what they can expect in their journeys,” Jain said.

PAL joins the list of other global airlines on the top 10 list like Lufthansa, Delta, and Emirates.

The airline has always been implementing the strictest standards to ensure the health safety of all its passengers from the terminal, to inside the aircraft, to arrival. A few of these protocols are the mandatory wearing of face masks and face shields by passengers throughout the flight, the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by cabin crew members, a more simple inflight meal service to ensure a less-contact service on board, and the use of HEPA filters on board its aircraft which catches 99.9% of viruses and other contaminants. HEPA filters however are a standard feature in all modern aircraft today.

PAL has also been working with the national government to ensure safety of its passengers. The airline has also set-up a one-stop shop Covid-19 testing center at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 2 to administer RT-PCR testing for non-OFWs.

Below are the world’s top 10 airlines with the highest Covid-19 safety protocols as shared by Travel Weekly.
