PEYA Travel Agency owner Rhea Donna Bayona, or better known by the Filipino Community in Hong Kong as “Yanyan”, was arrested by Hong Kong police last December 25, at her office in World-Wide Building in Central.
The arrest was made due to the increasing number of complaints the Hong Kong police received about the issuance of unpaid flights. Hong Kong police also confiscated evidences in the said arrest.
The Hong Kong police have issued an official press release saying that since mid-December, they have received a number of complaints from foreign women who purchased air tickets at a travel company in Des Voeux Road, Central. Police initially accounted as many as 645 victims, and about HK$ 2 million worth of unpaid flights.
Another victim has come forward, a 67 years old local man in Hong Kong, has claimed to the police stating that last December 21, his company had transacted with PEYA Travel on behalf of the airline and had not received the flight ticket since May. Damages are expected to be around HK$ 3 million.
District Crime Police District Crime Division took over the investigation as “Yanyan”, 38-year-old, owner of PEYA Travel Agency, was arrested at about 12 noon on December 25 at a unit at Wan Chai Road, Wan Chai, committing fraud.
The arrested woman was detained for investigation. As the operation is still underway, the police have not ruled out the arrest of more people.
