Looks like the hospitality and warm reception of every Filipino paid off as the Miss Universe organization has offered the Philippines to host the competition again in November this year says Department of Tourism (DOT) Chair Wanda Teo.
According to ABS-CBN’s Mario Dumaual, Secretary Teo confirms the proposal of the Miss Universe organization but the agency is still studying the proposal. “Pinagaaralan pa namin iyan pero that’s true, they are asking us to host it again this year,” said DOT Secretary.
Secretary Teo shared that the Miss Universe organization was very much pleased with the job of the Philippines and claimed that it overshadowed the pre-events of the recent Super Bowl.
“Usually, number one iyan [Super Bowl] pero trending rin ang Miss Universe so they really want it badly here in the Philippines,” referring to the days after the pageant aired.
Like the previous year however, she added that the agency will be looking for sponsors willing to shoulder the expenses and also would ask the organization to have more control over the event.
The 2017 Miss Universe is scheduled for November where Filipino-British rachel Peters will represent.
Teo also admits that the country is the “runaway winner”; giving a boost to the local tourism. “Our islands, food, and the biggest smiles of our people are all over the news and social media these past few weeks. The world now know how beautiful our islands are, how delectable our cuisines are, and how friendly and warm Filipinos are – just ask the Miss Universe candidates themselves,” the confident answer of Secretary Teo.
