Another Filipina is subjected to a death sentence after allegedly killing her employer in the United Arab Emirates.
Jennifer Dalquez, a 28-year old OFW in the United Arab Emirates, maintained in her testimony that it was a case of self-defense. Her mother, Aling Regima is now seeking help from the Philippine government to save her daughter.
“Tulungan nyo po kami, kasi buhay ng anak ko ang nakataya dito” (Please help us, because our daughter’s life is at stake). According to her, Jennifer should’ve come home last January, but she was arrested last December 12 after allegedly killing her employer who attempted to rape her. She stabbed the suspect with the knife that he aimed at her.
Aling Regima was able to talk to her daughter last Wednesday and she relayed to her the sad news. “Sising-sisi talaga ako, Inang, kung bakit ako nagpunta dito. (I really regret my coming here, Mother.) They are already going to kill me, because that is my punishment”.
In order to confirm the news, the ABS-CBN news team brought Aling Regima to the Foreign Affairs Office who confirmed the death sentence. They also brought the appeal to Secretary Mar Roxas of the Department of Interior and Local Government. The Secretary promised to prioritize and to personally investigate the case. The Department of Foreign Affairs will also make an appeal to the UAE court regarding her conviction.
