Fellow singer and Tindig Pilipinas advocate Leah Navarro came to Jim Paredes’ defense in a tweet on Tuesday amidst the leaked sex video scandal of Paredes that went viral online.
Navarro called those who share the video as “video thieves,” and that they must be charged criminally.
“Laughing at my friend Jim Paredes and his predicament doesn’t make you, video thieves and sharers, any better than him,” Navarro said.
It can be recalled that Paredes said that the video was “fake” but eventually claimed the authenticity of the video. He, however does not know how the video was leaked which was meant to be private.
Meanwhile, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Eliseo Rio Jr. said at the Kapihan sa Manila Bay media forum in Malate, Manila that they will investigate the matter. According to him, “You cannot post a private video in a public platform. That is prohibited under the law,” and that people involved in spreading the video will face legal charges for violating RA 10175 otherwise known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
