VIDEO: Thai Police Charged Filipino, Three Others with Credit Card Fraud

A Filipino national, his Thai wife and two others were caught using a fake credit card just before they were about to board a flight to Singapore at Suvarnabhumi Airport, May 25. The goods worth over 700,000 baht were bought online from duty-free King Power shops.

The police named Leonardo Pajarillano Jnr, 39, a Filipino national, his Thai wife Rungrawee Chaopaknam, 37, and Preeyanut Chaopaknam, 23, and Natthanai Rakyoo, 23 as suspects and were charged with credit card fraud. They were shown at a press conference at police headquarters on Tuesday.

Seized from the suspects were a fake credit card, 21 smart phones and other brand-name products such as sunglasses, belts, and bags worth over 700,000 baht. The arrest came after the American Express Co tipped the police about the purchase of goods online using a fake credit card.

National police chief Somyot Pumpunmuang said the four suspects went to collect the items at Suvarnabhumi airport but were apprehended shortly before boarding Jetstar flight 3K512 to Singapore about 9.25am on May 25.

Pajarillano who is more commonly known as “Jon” used to operate a visa run company with his Thai wife Rungrawee. The Filipino suspect, who has been living in Thailand for a long time, is also involved with other businesses such as buy and sell of gadgets. The couple has two children.

Pol Gen Somyot promised to expand the investigation noting that there were other similar gangs entering the country to use false credit card.
