Thai Royalty Visits Cebu

Over 50 policemen and military personnel were assigned in Oslob, Cebu last February 25 as Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, daughter of King Vajiralongkorn and Sujarinee Vivacharawongse, went whale shark watching.

Members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Tourist Police, Provincial Police Safety Company (PPSC) and Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) were all deployed in the area to secure the royalty. The Philippine Army, Philippine Navy and Philippine Coast Guard were also alerted to amp up the town’s security.

According to PO2 Noel Mamale of Oslob Police Station, they were already informed a week prior to the princess’ visit to the town, giving the station time to prepare for the arrival. Princess Sirivannavari and her entourage arrived in Oslob Friday afternoon and spent the night at Sumilon Island.

The following morning, Princess Sirivannavari watched and swam with the whale sharks in the seawaters of Tan-awan, Oslob.
