Honorable Heather Variava, United States Chargé d’Affaires, used her Twitter account on Monday to post a photo of her and president-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as she paid a courtesy call on the presumptive president.
Variava assured the upcoming Marcos administration that the United States will continue to cooperate with the Philippines on interests that value both countries such as the fight against Covid-19, inclusive economic growth, and shared democratic values.
“Offered my congratulations to President-elect @bongbongmarcos and emphasized our intent to expand U.S.-Philippine cooperation on our countries’ shared interests, including the fight against COVID-19, promoting inclusive economic growth, and shared democratic values,” Variava wrote.
