6-billion pesos worth of retirement pensions has been authorized for release by President Rodrigo Duterte during his speech at the 75th Day of Valor in Mt Samat National Shrine in Bataan, Sunday, April 9.
The President’s order covers from fiscal year 2008-2014, grand totalling to over 6.421 billion pesos. This announcement was received with loud cheers from the audience, many of which were war veterans, their widows and their families.
“Mabuhay ang beterano! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Saludo ako sa inyo, sir.” (Long live the veterans! Long live the Philippines! I salute you, sir.) “No matter what we do, we can never do enough to repay you, but I would like for you to know that your government is doing much, much more.” said the president.
Aside from this directive, veterans and their dependents are given free medical services at any veterans-accredited hospitals, including Veterans Memorial Medical Center and other 152 hospitals nationwide.
