Thailand is to reopen to fully vaccinated tourists, without quarantine requirements, starting on the resort island of Phuket, on July 1, under the “Phuket Sandbox” model.
Foreign nationals with the non-immigrant O-A visa, sometimes known as a retirement visa, will in the future have to prove they have insurance coverage of at least US$100,000 (three million baht) against Covid-19.
Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha stated that the Government aims to fully reopen the country within the next 120 days.
Ms. Thapanee said “The ‘SHA Plus’ standard symbolises Phuket’s readiness to reopen the island, which local stakeholders have worked together to create as part of the pilot scheme.”
Chonburi is one of the 10 provinces the government is planning to open to tourists without requiring mandatory quarantine from October.
