When a Filipino community had learned of the affliction of a Filipina teacher in Ratchaburi, the group started to think of ways how to help her financially. Since July, preparations have been undertaken to raise funds for Maricel’s medication.
A “Concert for a Cause” was arranged to take place this August to help in shouldering her medications. However, the sad news of her passing on Wednesday, August 10 struck her friends, former colleagues and those who knew and loved her.
Ms. Maricel Mamom Ocera was a former teacher at Daruna Ratchaburi School in Ratchaburi Province where she taught for eight years. She lived with her husband and a son. When she was diagnosed with colon cancer, they decided to go back to the Philippines in December 2015.
The “Concert for a Cause” will be pushed through despite her sudden death. It will be held on August 27, 2016 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at St. Paul Hall of Daruna Ratchaburi School. The ticket price is 100 baht. All proceeds will be donated to the bereaved family of Maricel.
To buy a ticket or to donate, you may send a message to Mr. Tony Razon Donguines. He is one of the organizers of the event.
The said concert has been organized by Maricel’s friends and colleagues at the Integrated Studies Program.
