Feeding, teen spaces, and financial support for mental health programs highlight DepEd’s agenda in 2024

Vice President Sara Duterte has unveiled significant initiatives to be implemented by the Department of Education (DepEd) this year.

At the forefront of these efforts is the initiation of a school-based feeding program, designed to ensure that students receive wholesome and nutritious meals while on school premises. This move reflects a commitment to addressing not only academic needs but also the fundamental aspect of students’ physical well-being.

In a bid to create safe and supportive spaces for students, the DepEd will be establishing additional teen centers. These centers are envisioned as havens where students can engage in various activities in a secure environment, fostering a sense of community and well-being.

Another program that DepEd is planning to do is a substantial financial commitment toward its mental health programs with an allocation exceeding P200 million. Recognizing the growing importance of mental health in the overall development of individuals, this financial investment highlights the government’s dedication to fostering a supportive and nurturing educational environment.

These are only a few of the programs that the DepEd, headed by the Vice President, will be implementing for the coming months this year.
