FilAm Kriesha Tiu secures spot in grand finale on ‘K-Pop Star 6’

Kriesha Tiu of KWINs is one step away of becoming Korea’s biggest rising star after an intense, neck and neck live elimination night of ‘K-Pop Star 6: The Last Chance’ aired April 2.

KWINs, Kriesha Tiu’s group with Kim Sohee and Kim Hye-rim, bagged one of two slots for the grand finals, competing against Kim Jong-seob and Park Hyun-jin, collectively Boyfriend. During the live telecast, the Top 4 contestants performed at Bucheon Gymnasium. Part of the Top 4 were Shannon who performed Park Jin-young’s “I Have A Girl” and Min A Lee who performed “Something” by Girl’s Day, both garnered 277 points each with the top 2 finalists, duo Boyfriend performed the Black Eyed Peas’ anthem “Let’s Get It Started” while KWINs sang “Wannabe” by the Spice Girls both accumulated 295 and 280 points respectively.

An all-Filipino girl group also made waves in 2014 after the Cercado sisters, collectively then known as MICA, made it pass the audition phase of Superstar K6. They finished 8th on the show.

Kiesha was under Urban Works Entertainment but was then eliminated last January 1. A wild card episode brought her back on the show and thus reaching the grand finals. The final episode of “K-Pop Star 6: The Last Chance” will air on April 9.
