Two-time Olympian Hidilyn Diaz ruled her new weight class Monday in the 26th Women’s Asian Seniors Weightlifting Championships in Phuket, Thailand.
The 24-year old Filipina lifter moved from 56kg to 53kg where she notched three gold medals after lifting 96kg in the snatch, 118kg in the clean and jerk for a 214kg total.
Diaz, a native from Zamboanga City, “defeated South Korea’s Kim Su Ryon, who settled for second place with scores of 95kg, 113kg and 208kg total,” the Inquirer.net reported.
The Philippines amassed a total of five gold and one silver in the Asian championship.
After her golden feat in Phuket, Diaz together with Colonia, another award-winning Filipino lifter, will be joining the Invitational 2015 IWF Grand Prix in Fuzhou, China on Sept. 21-23.
