“Padede” Girls Conquer Metro Manila

Yes! You read it right. On the 1st of August 2015, over 200 young professional breastfeeding moms gathered at 500 Shaw Zentrum, Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City for the annual “Hakab Na! 2015”.

The event is not just a whole day of latching babies on. Organizers also conducted lots of fun-filled activities and rendered various helpful topics about breastfeeding. A number of bazaars featuring mommy-baby products and other local business were also visible in the venue.

Attendees were mostly from the Breastfeeding Pinays (BFP) group which currently comprises over 50,000 members online. The BFP is an online support group with the primary aim of providing breastfeeding support to Filipino mothers. Though initially made for moms, other family members, doctors, midwives, nurses, and other health professionals have also joined the said group.

The first ‘Hakab Na!’ was held on August 3, 2013 where more than 225 mothers with their babies, children, husbands, families and support system held breastfeeding awareness campaigns in key cities abroad and nationwide.

Mothers rallied for their breastfeeding rights in various locations in Manila, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, and Singapore. ‘Hakab Na!’ is held every August, in time for the Philippines’ National Breastfeeding Awareness Month.
