After two months of flight cancellations, Philippine Airlines (PAL) finally flew home 150 Filipino passengers on May 12, Wednesday.
PR731 departed from Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Most of the passengers were overseas Filipino workers (OFW). Miss Grand International 1st runner-up Samantha Bernardo was also aboard the flight.
Many of the passengers had been stranded for months in several provinces. Some of them had already lost their jobs and ended apartment rentals and lived with friends while waiting for their flight. Only 1,500 international passengers daily are allowed entry to the Philippines in an effort to stop the spread of the virus.
Next PAL scheduled flight is on May 26.
Meanwhile, June and July flights are already closed for booking. The next available flight open for booking as of writing is August 2021. PAL’s plans to provide daily flight in August are still subject to change depending on COVID-19 situation and protocols.
