PHL Karate Team wins big at 2016 Thailand Open Karate-Do Championships Day 1

A total of seven medals were bagged by the Philippine Karate Team on the first day of Thailand Open Karate-Do Championship 2016 at Huamark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok on July 14-16, 2016.

Filipino athletes on Thursday already won two gold, one silver and four bronze medals. There are 19 participating teams from different countries in the said three-day tournament.

The Philippine delegation is composed of 22 athletes and 8 coaches. They arrived in Bangkok on Wednesday evening.

“In behalf of the Karate-Do Federation in the Philippines, we are very happy that our young athletes excel in the field of karate. We are also grateful that today we already bagged two gold, one silver and four bronze medals,” said Mr Raymund Lee Reyes, Philippines Karatedo Federation Secretary General and Team Manager.

1. Cherry Rodriguez (15-16 kata event)

Bronze
1. Margarette Abba (10-11 kata)

3. Jaime Villegas Jr (kata)
4. Enrich Napa (kumite boys)

On Friday, junior and senior karate players will be coming to compete.
