The House of Representatives has just approved House Bill 4767, on it’s third final reading, that extends Philippine passport validity from 5 years to 10 years. With the bill’s approval, this will be sent to the Senate for concurrence.
However, the Department of Foreign Affairs has the authority to limit the passport validity to less than 10 years whenever political stability of the country or national economic interest is concerned or in case of applicants being minor below 18 years old.
This bill is an amendment of RA 8239 or the Philippine Passport Act of 1990 that only gives 5-year passport validity to all its citizens.
