Some road and train closures, ‘no drone fly zone’ in and around Bangkok during APEC

The Royal Thai Police has announced that certain roads and train stations in Bangkok will be closed during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) week on November 16-19 2022.

Thailand is this year’s host for the APEC summit. Meetings and events will be also held in some provinces, but the main venue is in Bangkok.

The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW) is scheduled at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) and as expected some roads will be closed near the venue to ease traffic for the international delegates.

Transportation is modified as follows:

  • Trains on the MRT Blue Line will not stop at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center on 16-19 November
  • Ratchadaphisek Road (Asok Intersection – Phraram IV Intersection) and Duangpitak Road will be closed for 24 hours
  • “No fly zone” measures will be applied; specifically, flying drones and flying without permit will not be allowed in or around Bangkok from 16 to 19 November 2022.

Earlier, the Thai government approved the proposed special holidays on November 16-18 on three provinces namely Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan. The government is expecting the public to spend the days outside Bangkok to ease traffic congestion in the city.
