Thailand confirms 127 new COVID-19 cases, total of 1,651, 10 fatalities

Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) confirmed on Tuesday that one more person has died from coronavirus bringing the death toll to 10.

The number of infected also rose by 127 cases bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,651. Of that number 1,407 are Thai nationals while 244 are foreign ex-pats and tourists.

The majority of cases are still located in the Greater Bangkok area with 869 patients while the number of infected in the country’s south rose to 206.

62 of the new infections can be traced back to a boxing event which has been the site of the biggest number of infections.

“The government is satisfied to an extent that the numbers have not shot up,” said government spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin. “But we must not rest and take it easy, we must stay vigilant and practice social distancing.”
