Thailand plans to vaccinate all students

The Thai government is considering a plan of vaccinating students at all levels, according to Anek Laothamatas, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.

“We estimate that there are about two million students at both school and college levels who wish to be vaccinated against Covid-19,” the minister said.

Even residents living nearby selected campuses can also be covered according to the plan.

“The ministry is preparing to offer vaccination at selected campuses while people residing nearby will also be welcome to get a jab,” he added.

Anek also stated that the more than two million vaccines that have been administered so far are efficient as there is no death reported.

“All vaccines that have been registered in Thailand are effective against Covid-19 and have rarely caused side-effects. So far more than two million doses have been administered with no death found, while several people are dying from Covid-19 every day.”

He also pointed out that the best strategy to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic is to vaccinate as many people as possible.

“It is not important which type of vaccine you are going to get, as all of them are equally effective. The key part is to get them as soon as possible.”

Having said this, Anek would personally prefer the AstraZeneca vaccine as this would give more immunity against Covid-19 for the recipient even after the first jab.
