Her Excellency Vice President Leni Robredo met with members of the Filipino Community in Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok, on Monday morning August 1, 2016.
VP Robredo will receive the Queen Sirikit recognition award as one of the “Honorary Outstanding Women of 2016” as part of the commemoration of Thai Women’s Day at Impact Arena in the afternoon. She flew to the kingdom early morning via Cebu Pacific and then went straight to the meet and greet session organized by her office through the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok.
The Vice President was welcomed by Embassy officials led by Her Excellency Ambassador Mary Joy Bernardo-Aragon and Consul General Ms. Mary Ann Padua.
Members of the Filipino Community who were present at the meet and greet were Mr. Joey Lim, President of the Philippine Thai Business Club, Ms. Cora Bamrungcheep, Ms. Aida Prachamnong, Ms. Bella Santos, Ms. Irene Eursurattanachai, Ms. Jean Ventilacion and Mr. Dennis Manalili of the Association of Filipinos in Thailand, and Mr. Jezreel Llanera, PinoyThaiyo Founder.
Robredo who was wearing a black and white blouse gamely chatted with each one of the community members. She even shared how close she is with her children who asked for a gourmet popcorn as her pasalubong.
The Vice President is accommodating, down to earth and very simple.
Meanwhile, Ms. Sylvia Reyes Cultural Attache of the Philippine Embassy welcomed and assisted the Filipino leaders while waiting for Robredo. She also introduced them upon Robredo’s arrival.
