The Filipino Community in the Northern region of Thailand, together with Honorary Consul of the Philippines, HE Agkarajit Phanomvan na Ayudhya, held a symposium-meeting at the Phoomthai Garden Hotel in Phrae, last Saturday, April 1.
Filipinos from Nan, Chiangmai, Lamphun and Phrae provinces were gathered in order to discuss key matters on upcoming community activities and most specially the new immigration policies of the country. Speaking to the Filipino community, Honorary Consul Agkarajit emphasized the need of every Filipino in the region to connect with the local provincial offices. He further explained that community building between Thais and Filipinos would greatly benefit both nationalities in creating a harmonious society. Once this confidence and trust is established, local provincial offices will definitely contact these Filipino community leaders to partner with them, may it be in seminars, workshops or any of its future events. HE Agkarajit further more encouraged Filipinos to set up their own library, an initiative that would benefit both.
Present in this dialogue were Provincial Governor of Phrae, Gov. Wattana Puttichat; the Deputy Director of Phrae Province; assistant director of Phrae Forestry School, Ms Pimpun Phetcharat; and the president of Phrae Business Tourism Organization, Mrs. Saowalak Wisuttiphon.
This was organized and hosted by FilCom leader Mrs. Kristine Baynosa-Sitchon of Phrae Province, whose goal is to ‘raise the Philippine flag’ in the region.
